How to Vote


All registered voters in the State of Vermont should have received a ballot in the mail. If you have not received your ballot, please contact your Town Clerk.

Ballots MUST be mailed back by October 25th to ensure delivery by Election Day.
You can also return your ballot to your Town Clerk’s Office or bring it to the election polling location in your town NO LATER than 7 pm, Tuesday, November 5th.

Voting in person on Election Day is available. If you were issued a ballot, bring it back with you when you go to vote. All Vermont polling locations close at 7 p.m., but they may open at different times.

    Kamala Harris is the 49th Vice President of the United States, serving under President Joe Biden. She previously served as a U.S. Senator from California and as the Attorney General of California. Harris is the first woman, the first Black woman, and the first South Asian-American to hold the office of Vice President. If elected President, Harris would set a historic precedent as the first woman, the first Black woman, and the first South Asian-American to hold the presidency in the United States, breaking significant barriers in American political history.

  • Governor Tim Walz

    Tim Walz is the 41st Governor of Minnesota, having taken office in 2019. Walz previously served as a U.S. Representative for Minnesota's 1st congressional district for over a decade. Before entering politics, he was a high school teacher and served in the National Guard for 24 years. As governor, Walz has focused on education, healthcare, and environmental issues, and he led Minnesota through the COVID-19 pandemic with a strong emphasis on public health measures. If elected President, Walz would bring a blend of military, educational, and executive governance experience to the role.

    Seth Bongartz, who currently represents Bennington-4 in the Vermont House, has been a dedicated public servant for decades. First elected to the House in 1981 and later serving in the Senate, his career includes leadership on housing and natural resource protection. A former attorney, Seth spent 11 years in law before becoming President of Hildene, The Lincoln Family Home, where he transformed it into a 412-acre cultural heritage site. After retiring in 2019, he co-founded Gubb & Bongartz, a consulting firm supporting Vermont non-profits. He has also chaired the boards of Burr and Burton Academy, the Manchester Community Land Trust, and the National Development Council. Seth now seeks to bring his leadership to the Senate, continuing his lifelong commitment to public service.

    Rob Plunkett is running for State Senate for the Bennington District to ensure that Bennington continues to have a voice in the Senate—a voice for Bennington from Bennington. He is a father of two, raising his daughter and son in the same house where he grew up. With a career in public service as a prosecutor for Bennington County for 17 years, Rob brings valuable experience to the State Senate, offering his perspective on reforming the justice system. He is committed to helping Vermont remain a national leader in protecting gender and reproductive rights against the influence of a partisan U.S. Supreme Court. He also aims to reduce dependence on fossil fuels and ensure access to quality care and education for Vermont’s children.     Jonathan Cooper, a candidate for State Representative for the Bennington-1 District, has lived in southwestern Vermont since 2016 with his wife, Kate, and their daughters. With over a decade of experience in community and economic development, Jonathan is focused on expanding economic opportunities for residents, enhancing public resources for rural towns, and supporting development resources for local businesses. He is running to ensure that Vermont’s legislative priorities reflect the needs of rural communities, which make up two-thirds of the state’s population. In addition to managing the Community & Economic Development program at the BCRC, Jonathan proudly serves as Board Chair of Sunrise Family Resource Center, advocating for a bright future for the children and families of the First District.

If elected, Greer would be the youngest out LGBTQIA+ member of a state legislature in the United States. His campaign focuses on issues like sheriff department reforms, healthcare, public safety, and addressing the opioid crisis. With deep roots in rural communities and a passion for public service, Greer aims to continue the leadership that has benefited Southern Vermont while bringing a younger voice to Montpelier.

    Representative David K. Durfee of Shaftsbury, Bennington County, was elected to the Vermont House of Representatives in 2018. He grew up in rural upstate New York, graduated from Williams College, and received an MBA from Cornell University. A consultant to cooperatives, non-profits, and small businesses, he was previously the General Manager of Wild Oats Market. He serves on the boards of BROC Community Action and the Mount Anthony Union High School District and was a member of the former Shaftsbury School District board and the secretary of the Neighboring Food Cooperative Association board. He and his wife Melanie have three sons.

    Rob Hunter, a long-time educator and resident of Vermont for nearly 30 years, is running for a seat in the Vermont House to advocate for the needs of everyday Vermonters. With 32 years of teaching experience, including 27 at Burr and Burton Academy, Rob has seen firsthand the challenges that Vermont families face, from the rising cost of living to the complexities of raising children and navigating public education. As a husband, father, and active member of his community, he is deeply committed to issues like affordable housing, education spending, healthcare, and childcare. Rob brings a balanced, experienced voice to these conversations and is dedicated to fighting for the people of Bennington-4. In addition to his teaching career, Rob is a published poet, author, and former English Department Chair at Burr and Burton.     Mike Rice is running for reelection as State Representative for the Bennington-Rutland District, building on his strong record of service and commitment to his community. Born and raised in Upstate New York, Mike earned a BA in English with an interdisciplinary minor in Environmental Policy from the University at Albany, graduating magna cum laude. After moving to Vermont to work for a farm and cidery, he pursued a master’s degree in food and agriculture law and policy from Vermont Law School, graduating with distinction. With experience in operations for a Vermont dairy farm and working with the Northeast Organic Farming Association (NOFA) on regional policy solutions for food security, soil health, and food system equity, Mike has a deep understanding of agricultural and environmental issues. First elected to the House in 2022, he now serves on the leadership team of the Climate Solutions Caucus. Mike is focused on reforming education funding to deliver the education Vermont’s kids deserve at a cost taxpayers can afford, investing in needed housing while modernizing regulations to make building faster and more affordable, and acting on climate solutions to make communities more resilient while protecting natural resources. He lives in Dorset with his partner and is dedicated to continuing his work for the residents of Bennington and Rutland counties.
