BENNINGTON — Bennington County Democrats will host a “Meet the Candidates Open House” on Friday, October 18, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the party's county campaign headquarters at 353 Main Street at the Four Corners.

Because of contributions from the Vermont Democratic Party and local supporters, this is the first time the Democrats have had a headquarters location in Bennington County since before the COVID-19 pandemic, said county Democratic Chair Jim Ramsey.

“This will be a great opportunity to meet local candidates and learn about volunteer opportunities for the campaign season – and beyond,” Ramsey said in a media release. “The activity levels on our Bennington County Vermont Democrats website (benndems.org) is extremely high, with volunteers signing up, donations being made, candidate events being added across the county, and demand for yard signs."

"One of the hottest items on the BennDems website are orders for the locally designed 'Vermont for Harris Walz' yard sign," Ramsey said. "The Bennington Democrats are distributing these signs for free with a small donation. Already in a second printing, these yard signs will be available at the open house and at the Democrats booth at Harvest Fest."

On October 19, the county Democrats also will host a booth at Bennington’s Harvest Fest.

"In an effort to promote literacy and education, the Democratic booth will host a children’s coloring contest, with participants receiving a free book, donated by county committee members," Ramsey said. "Nearly two dozen children’s books and other prizes were distributed as part of the Democrats coloring contest this past May at Bennington’s Mayfest."
